Generally, the carat weight of a diamond is the easiest decision that people make when searching for the right diamond. The carat weight is completely self-explanatory and simply refers to how much the diamond weighs. The choice of a diamond’s weight is completely dependant on the budget of the buyer. Usually, heavier stones tend to be more expensive than their lighter counterparts, although in certain instances this may not be the case. Whilst it is still a decision that warrants some thought, the importance in the stone’s carat weight pales in comparison to the attention that should be paid to its colour, clarity, cut and shape. Carat weights generally range from around 0.3 carats to 3 carats.
